If you’re doing some work on your home or cottage this summer, you have a chance to get permits quicker than normal. Huntsville is hosting its first Express Permit Extravaganza in May, which invites homeowners to submit applications on a Saturday and have permits ready by the following Wednesday.
If you’re building anything bigger than 10 square meters, you need a permit, and only certain applications will be allowed through the express process. The town says that includes:
- Accessory Buildings (Sheds / Carports / Garages less than 592 sq. ft.)
- Septic Systems
- Decks
- Pool Enclosure
- Demolition
- Interior Renovations
- Temporary Tents
The event is happening on Saturday, May 5th at Home Depot on Ott Drive, and the town says as long as the requirements are met permits will be ready on May 9th. More details on building codes and the event are available on the town website.
