Heat warning issued for areas including Washago, Orillia and Barrie

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning today for areas including Washago, Orillia and Barrie. This as temperatures are expected to reach near 30°C with a humidex value of near 40°C this afternoon. While high temperatures can put everyone at risk for heat illnesses like heat stroke, exhaustion or fainting, health risks are greatest for older adults, infants and children, as well as people with preexisting medical conditions like heart disease, and homeless persons. To reduce your risk, avoid sun exposure by shading yourself, drink plenty of cool liquids, and take regular breaks from the heat in cool locations whenever possible.
