Canadian Blood Services needs your help to fill stocks before the spring

Canadian Blood Services is in desperate need of your blood.

The agency is issuing an urgent plea for 35,000 Canadians to donate blood before March 10th, as cold weather and a long flu season have depleted inventories.

Territory manager Elaine St. Pierre says it’s important to book ahead even if the clinic does fall after the March 10th target date.

St. Pierre adds if you’re travelling outside of North America during the March break, there may be waiting period may before you can donate blood.

St. Pierre also points out there’s a blood donor clinic located in Barrie that’s open five days a week if you want to donate before the March break.

Muskokans can help put back some blood in the stocks by heading to a clinic on Monday afternoon at the Faith Baptist Church in Huntsville. It runs from two to seven.

The next blood clinics in Muskoka won’t run until late March. The Gravenhurst Centennial Arena will host a clinic on March 20th and Bracebridge follows up with a clinic on March 26th.

To book an appointment or locate an open clinic nearest you, visit the Canadian Blood Services website.
