Muskoka Trek for Tourette charity walk raising awareness of Tourette Syndrome

Muskoka is gearing up for the Trek for Tourette charity fun walk in Gravenhurst.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the five-kilometre event raises awareness of Tourette Syndrome and is in support of Tourette Canada’s annual fundraising drive.

Organizer and Muskoka TS Resource Unit leader Shawn Forth says the trek also brings in people from outside the Muskoka district.

Forth says 1 in 50 kids are diagnosed with TS and/or one of its associated disorders like OCD and ADHD.

He says raising awareness will help dispel some of the myths surrounding TS.

Over 50 trekkers took part in the event last year raising $4500.

The Muskoka Trek for Tourette begins in the Terry Fox Room at the Gravenhurst Centennial Center at 1:00 pm on March 25th, and winds 5 kilometres through the downtown.
