UPDATED: Flood concerns rise as Muskoka gets hit with significant rainfall

Environment Canada says Muskokans should be prepared for the possibility of flooding today.

The weather service is warning up to 40mm of rain could fall by Wednesday morning. As the ground is still frozen, officials say the majority of water won’t be absorbed, which could lead to flooding in low-lying areas. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is also warning residents to be prepared for flooding as water levels rise from melting snow as well.

The MyMuskokaNow newsroom will keep you updated on the wet conditions throughout the day.
