Huntsville takes part in renewable energy

Huntsville is committed to renewable energy. The town installed five solar panels on the roofs of the Huntsville Fire Hall, Huntsville Public Library, Madill Yard, Port Sydney Fire Hall and Port Sydney Community Hall. Deputy Mayor Scott Aitchison says through this project, Huntsville is demonstrating leadership in renewable energy generation. The Sustainability Committee initiated the solar project. Sustainability Coordinator Rebecca Francis says these panels will help reduce the town’s carbon footprint. Huntsville contracted Greenside Electric to do the job. Solar Division Manager Peter Ewald says these projects will help the town generate a great return on investment and contribute to a healthier environment for everyone. Each panel is grid-tied and falls under contract with the Ontario Power Authority.
