Father and son found suffering from hypothermia after breaking through ice on Lake Muskoka

Muskoka officials are thanking marina workers for helping in a search and rescue effort.

On Sunday afternoon, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department and the OPP were called to Mortimer’s Point Marina on Lake Muskoka after someone heard two people screaming. Working with marina employees, crews discovered an area of broken ice and two floating helmets. The group followed a set of tracks to a nearby boathouse and found a father and his son inside suffering from hypothermia. The two were taken to South Muskoka Hospital.

Fire officials say the search would have taken longer without help from the marina workers.
