Upcoming mental health workshop aims to help the community feel empowered

Feeling empowered during times of grief to many is impossible. That’s something an upcoming mental health workshop called ‘I Just Showed Up’ hopes to change. Guest speaker and author of Love Your Life to Death Yvonne Heath says just showing up can give people strength.

A nurse for 27 years, 15 of which were spent in chemotherapy, Heath says she hopes to teach people how to empower themselves.

‘I Just Showed Up’ takes places on Saturday, February 24th at Parry Sound’s Friendship Centre on 13 Bowes St between 8:30 am and 11:30 am. Free pancakes will be served between 8:30 am and 10:30 am. The event is sponsored by Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement from proceeds of his Charity Golf Classic, and everyone from across the riding is welcome to attend.

If you plan on attending, you’re asked to RSVP to Jackie at 705-645-2262 ext. 1221 or [email protected]
