Dorset community projects eligible for funding

A funding initiative is aiming to increase permanent employment in Dorset. The Haliburton County Development Corporation has some cash up for grabs through its Local Initiatives Program, in order to help stimulate the local economy. The LIP puts money into creating new projects or improving existing ones.

Patti Tallman, Assistant Director at HCDC, says the projects must also involve non-for-profit organizations to be eligible.

Tallman says the LIP fund will pay for up to 80 per cent of the project cost. She says the average cost is around $2,500 but they have funded up to $5,000. And, she says the funding can’t go towards general operating costs.

The project must take place between April 1, 2018 and March 15, 2019. Application details are available on the HCDC website, and the deadline to apply is March 15th.

The HCDP has supported projects in Dorset before, including helping to fund the health hub and the Bigwin.
