Muskoka Lakes reviewing its budget this week

It will be revealed on Thursday if Muskoka Lakes staff were able to reduce the township’s draft budget. The township had asked its senior staff to look for ways to lower the current 11.26 per cent increase to the operating and capital levy, which equals out to be $8.42 for every $100,000 in home assessments.

The biggest chunk of taxes goes into transportation and administration costs, and from there it goes into parks, planning, and emergency services.

The meeting is at 9:00am at council chambers in Port Carling, and is open to the public.
