Have an idea for a Muskoka business? You could win a year’s free rent

Gravenhurst is working to bring new business into Muskoka with a unique contest. The Win This Space Gravenhurst contest was launched this month by the Gravenhurst Business Improvement Area, which gives away one year’s free rent to someone with a business idea. The goal is to boost economic activity, while attracting new entrepreneurs to the area.

Applications must be innovative, unique and sustainable. The winner will be able to choose from several storefronts downtown, and will have to open their business by July.

Contests like this have been happening across Ontario, and Gravenhurst officials say they have ended in positive economic spin-off. The GBIA is running the competition along with the town, the Chamber of Commerce, Muskoka Futures, and the Muskoka Small Business Centre. It is also being supported by Lakeland Networks and the Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network.

Applications are being accepted until March 4th. Interested entrepreneurs can find out more on the Win This Space website.
