EQAO results show high literacy but low math scores in TLDSB

Last year’s EQAO testing results is showing our district school board still has some work to do with elementary math programs. Director of Education Larry Hope says they’ve been aware of the lower math results for a few years. They’re confident students have a good understanding of traditional math, Hope says, but they are working on programs to apply those skills in other areas. He says teachers are also working on programs to balance individual testing with group learning to up those test results.

At the same time, the school board is celebrating the highest scores they’ve seen in literacy testing for grade 6 classes and the second highest they’ve seen in grade 3 classes.
