Huntsville names Committee Chair, GM for next year’s Ontario 55+ Winter Games

Plans are in motion for next year’s Ontario winter games, which are happening in Huntsville. The town has announced Fran Coleman as the Games Organizing Committee Chair, and hired Sheri Renaud as General Manager. The Ontario 55+ Winter Games are being held from March 5th to 7th in 2019, and includes alpine skiing, curling, hockey, nordic skiing, and skating.

This will be the second time Huntsville hosts the Ontario 55+ Winter Games, which were also here in 2013. Athletes from across Ontario will be taking part, and the different events will be happening in a variety of different locations. That includes the Canada Summit Centre, resort meeting rooms, and schools. Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Culture has kicked in $235,000 to help support the event.

Huntsville secured the bid for the games in the summer of 2017. It is a joint event between the town, Games Ontario and the Ontario Senior Games Association.
