THIS JUST IN: Huntsville man charged with kidnapping
A 27 year old Huntsville man’s been charged with kidnapping. Yesterday, police learned of an assault that happened at a Huntsville residence on Thursday. That’s when they say a male victim was taken to the residence and forced to stay there for about 24 hours until Friday. In that time, he was also assaulted, threatened and taken to a local bank where he was forced to remove money from his account. The accused, 27 year old John Merkel of Huntsville, has since been arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Assault and Breach of Probation. He faces further charges of possession of a controlled substance. He is currently being held for a bail hearing in Bracebridge Court September 3rd, where he’ll answer to the charges.
