Firefighters want to reminder Muskokans that no ice is safe ice.
Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja says with the constant change in temperature this winter, it’s not worth risking your life or others by taking a chance on the ice.
This warning comes after two ATVs went through a patch of thin ice near Grassmere Road in Huntsville on Sunday. Vadlja says, fortunately, the water was only three feet deep, so emergency officials were able to pull the two riders out safely. No one was seriously injured.
Vadlja says if you see someone go through the ice, you should call 9-1-1 and never try to rescue them on your own.
