MAHC’s Chief Executive of Clinical Services appointed to expanded role

A 31-year healthcare veteran is helping to lead the charge in Muskoka. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has appointed Esther Millar as Chief Nursing Executive, to add to her current title. Millar has been on MAHC’s senior team since July of 2015, serving as Chief Executive of Clinical Services. In the role, she was responsible for overseeing pharmacy, emergency, and surgical services. With the addition to her title, Millar will now oversee all of the nursing clinical areas in Huntsville and Bracebridge.

CEO Natalie Bubela says adding to Millar’s portfolio means they have reduced the senior team by one position, which helps to provide consistent oversight and accountability for all of the nursing areas. She says Millar has helped to improve medication reconciliation, shorten emergency room wait times, save money, and improve access to care.

Before joining the MAHC team, Millar worked as the Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Hanover & District Hospital, as well as the Chief Nursing Executive at Temiskaming District Hospital. Before getting into management, Millar worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and two years on a transport team at Hospital for Sick Kids.
