Bake some cupcakes to help local animals in need

Helping local animals has never been so sweet. National Cupcake Day is coming up in Muskoka, which is an initiative from the Ontario and British Columbia SPCAs. You can bake and sell cupcakes in January and February, and donate the cash to our local SPCA.

Manager of the Muskoka SPCA, Jane McCamus says all of the money raised will help local animals.

McCamus says the nice thing about National Cupcake Day is you can make it into any kind of event that you want.

She says a cupcake event can happen anytime leading up to cupcake day, which is on February 26th.

The Muskoka OSPCA currently has two dogs up for adoption, along with seven cats and some small animals. You can see all of the adoptable pets on the SPCA website, and register for National Cupcake Day on its website. It’s free to sign up, and you can download your host kit online or self pledge $25 to receive a host kit in the mail.

Last year, the event raised over $14,000 locally and the goal this year is to raise $17,000.
