More Bald Eagles are coming to cottage country according to a recent study

Cottage Country is seeing a rise in American tourism, but these visitors aren’t human.

According to recent numbers collected during Christmas Bird Count in Parry Sound, more Bald Eagles are coming to the area. The annual event is run by the Parry Sound Nature Club in conjunction with Bird Studies Canada and the Audubon Society. Organizer Steph Romaniuk says he’s excited about the numbers.

In total, 27 bald eagles were spotted this year compared to 18 last year.

Other bird species on the rise include golden-eye ducks, dark-eyed juncos, and wild turkeys. You can find more information on the annual bird count here.
