Highway maintenance in Muskoka is staying local.
The Ministry of Transportation recently awarded the highway contract to Fowler Construction in Bracebridge. The contractor will be responsible for snow clearing and other maintenance in Muskoka, Parry Sound and Haliburton. Carillion has been contracted to do this work for many years but was released from its contract earlier this year.
Fowler President Moreen Miller says they’ll be looking to hire the Carillion workers as well as create more jobs for locals to take on. Fowler will take over the contract in September.
