Tony Clement says pot confusion in Ottawa could cause chaos for provincial governments.

The Parry Sound Muskoka MP is responding to recent comments made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about pot legalization is coming ‘next summer’. While talking to TVA network in Quebec, Trudeau said he didn’t know where the July 1st legalization date came from.

Clement says provinces have been planning their own legislation for pot sales based on this date.

Clement says he’s confused why Trudeau is claiming July 1st was never a date discussed. He says the Prime Minister’s own government sent out numerous press releases with that date listed for pot legalization.

The pot legalization bill has been passed in the House of Commons and is now before the Senate.
