Police watching out for drivers breaking new pedestrian safety laws in Bracebridge

Police in Muskoka are putting a bigger focus on pedestrian safety.

Bracebridge OPP says it will be keeping an eye on drivers using the intersection at Wellington Street and Monck Road. Because the intersection is used as a school crossing, drivers have to wait until everyone is on the sidewalk before pulling into the intersection. Police say many drivers are not following this new rule that was put in place by the province in 2016.

If you’re caught breaking this pedestrian safety law you can be charged $500 and you’ll have three demerit points tacked onto your licence.
