Two Muskoka organizations benefiting from Ontario’s sporting grant

Two sporting organizations in Muskoka are coming into some money. The Ontario government has announced the recipients for its 2017-2018 Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Programs Fund, which is a grant program to keep Ontarians active.

The Huntsville Curling Club will be receiving $61,674 to go into the youth curling program. The money will help to develop a sustainable program for curlers aged six to 17. It’s a two year project, and will offer the youth curling program to 468 children while building its coaching roster with 16 new volunteers in the area.

Bracebridge is getting $27,450 to create RIDE – Respect, Inclusion, Diversity, Equality. It’s a training program that will allow 13 agencies to offer free group cycle classes, which will target 60 low income earners.

Ontario says the OSRCF aims to offer more opportunities to become physically active, including for those who may face barriers to participating and those who are traditionally less active.
