Police are cracking down on truckers in Muskoka before the new year

Truckers using Muskoka roads are the target of an OPP blitz this December.

This week officers are working with the MTO to run Operation Safe Trucking to target unsafe trucking practices on the highways. The Bracebridge OPP detachment commander Inspector Brian Therrien says the numbers don’t lie; some truckers still aren’t being safe when driving through Muskoka.

Central Region OPP Sergeant Peter Leon says over two years the amount of truck-related crashes on Ontario roads has jumped dramatically.

Leon says the OPP is taking this issue very seriously and it will be ramping up these trucking blitzes in the New Year.

The recent trucking blitz in Muskoka wraps up on Friday.
