Have your say on the future of recreation in Bracebridge

You can get a peek at the future of recreation services in Bracebridge.

On Thursday, the town is inviting residents to an open house to review some of the details of the Recreation, Parks and Trails Master Plan draft. A consultant hired by the town to build this plan will be reviewing feedback gathered from the community on the state of recreation services and infrastructure in the town right now. This feedback has been pulled from 17 engagement sessions with residents and stakeholders and three online surveys. Director of Recreation Cindy O’Regan says the biggest thing they’ve been hearing about is outdoor recreation.

This open house will also give some details on the upcoming plans for the proposed arena complex being built on Salmon Avenue. O’Regan says there is a discussion about adding a field house to the complex.

O’Regan says some residents would also like to see some Sportsplex services get moved to the new facility.

None of these ideas are set in stone yet, but O’Regan says it’s important to have these discussions to hear about what residents really want when it comes to recreation services. This master plan is meant to be a recreation guideline in Bracebridge for the next 15 years.

If you’re interested in going to this open house it will be held at the Sportsplex at 6:30 on Thursday afternoon.
