The Muskoka Shoebox Project brings in nearly 1,200 donations for local women

Muskokans are going above and beyond to make sure everyone has a special Christmas.

Organizers of the Muskoka Shoebox Project say they’re blown away by the number of donations that came in this year. The group collected 1,092 shoeboxes filled with special items to help local women in need or who have suffered a recent crisis in their lives. This is nearly 500 more boxes collected compared to last year.

Each of these boxes has been given to accredited support agencies in Muskoka like the Salvation Army the YWCA and women’s shelters.

Officials say they also appreciate the time and effort of volunteers who helped organize the shoeboxes, wrap them and get them delivered.

If you’d like to get involved in the campaign next year you can follow the project here.
