Santa and local fire crews collecting food donations in Huntsville for Project Porchlight

Emergency officials in Huntsville are sounding the sirens for a good cause.

For the 29th year, firefighters from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays department will be making the rounds to collect food donations for Project Porchlight. Local volunteers will be lending a hand collecting non-perishable food donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank. Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja says the need is greater than ever as the local organization is serving over 300 families each month in Huntsville.

On December 6th, all you need to do is leave your porch light on and your food donation in a bag outside. If you’re not home or not in the collection area you can still donate by visiting one of the fire department detachments in Huntsville, Lake of Bays or Port Sydney, or head to the Salvation Army office on Main Street East.
