Police warn if you don’t lock it you’d better be ready to lose it
It can only take 30 seconds for someone to steal your car.
This is the message the OPP in Muskoka wants to get across to local residents. Throughout November, the Southern Georgian Bay OPP will be heading out into local communities to check for unlocked cars. This is in response to an increase in reports of vehicles being broken into in the area. Police say a majority of these thefts happened because vehicle owners didn’t lock up.
According to officials, a professional car thief could be driving away in your vehicle in less than a minute if you’ve left it unlocked.
