District warns watch for rusty water as watermains are flushed across Muskoka

If you’re getting rust in your water don’t be concerned.

The District of Muskoka is flushing watermains in communities across Muskoka as part of annual maintenance for fire hydrants. The flushing will help improve water quality for you and makes sure hydrants keep working properly. This will cause some rust to show up in your water though. If that happens, just run your cold water for a few minutes until it turns clear. Officials say the water is safe but can stain clothes and dishes if used to clean.

The watermain flushing will run until November 10th.
