Beaver Creek correctional officers raise funds to support families of fallen emergency workers

Muskoka correctional officers are helping to raise funds for a very special camp experience.

At the end of the summer, a group of officers from Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst travelled to Kingston to take part in a golf tournament for Camp FACES. Tournament organizer Michelle Lombardo says FACES is a place of support for families of fallen emergency workers.

She says these are families of correctional officers, police, and firefighters.

This year the team from Beaver Creek joined correctional officers from across Ontario and were able to raise over $9,000 for Camp FACES. Lombardo says this pushed above their $7,000 goal and well above last year’s amount.

She says the money will help run the camp for the fourth year in 2018.
