If someone is asking for your credit card over the phone, don’t give it out.
This is the message police want to get across as another phone scam is reportedly making the rounds in Muskoka. Reports to the MyMuskokaNow Newsroom say a scammer has been calling around pretending to be a banking representative. Bracebridge OPP Constable Mo Tilson says bank officials will never ask for your personal information if they call.
If you believe you’ve given out credit or banking information to a scammer, Tilson says you need to get in touch with your financial institution right away. She says if you see any money missing from your accounts, you need to call the OPP.
