Buy a smile cookie, light up some lives

With blue eyes and pink smiles, cookies are doing more than acting as a delicious treat. The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign is almost halfway done, and a local charity is benefiting from the sales. All of the money raised from sales in Huntsville is going to go into Christine’s Place, which helps those who are struggling with, or affected by, an unplanned pregnancy.

The program that the money will help support is called Light Up Your World. It was launched in 2014 in Muskoka, and is a school-based program for grade seven and eight students. There are three workshops that help kids understand their value, make wise choices and reduce bullying. Christine’s Place has a team of experts that do six workshop series at schools in the area.

If you buy a smile cookie in Bracebridge, the money will go to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation. In Gravenhurst, the donations go to the Ryde Community Co-op.
