You can tee-off and help to save lives. The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is running its final fundraiser of the year, which is a golf tournament, on September 27th at Grandview Golf Club.
Volunteer firefighter D’Arcy LeClaire says all of the money raised is going into one specific piece of equipment for the fire department.
LeClaire says the slide-in medical unit fits into an ATV or snowmobile which helps the first responders access difficult terrain and extract patients in a much safer manner. He says it’s been a work in progress to get the gear ready to go.
The fire department has raised over $30,000 in the last five years to buy all of the equipment.
The deadline to register for the golf tournament is this Friday. LeClaire says they’re looking for golfers and for sponsors, for things like the prize table, breakfast or dinner. Anyone interested in registering can contact LeClaire at (705) 783 1626 or [email protected].
