Protesters gathering peacefully at the hydroelectric dam construction in Bala

Protestors are beginning to gather at the construction site of the Bala Falls hydroelectric dam.
Swift River Energy Ltd. was recently given the nod by the District of Muskoka to start work after district staff approved permits for road use and access. The group SaveTheBalaFalls.com has been gathering near the construction this week to peacefully protest against the destruction of the falls. Group officials say they’ll be protesting again on Friday between 11:00am and 1:00pm on the north bridge.
