UPDATE: Road washouts and power outages

Today’s rain is causing a number of road issues around Huntsville.

Road closures:

– Highway 60 is closed due to flooding between Tally Ho Winter Park Road and Millar Hill Road Update: Highway 60 has been reopened
– Deerhurst Drive just after Canal Road is closed due to washout
– North Lancelot is closed from 613 to the intersection of N & S Lancelot is closed because of flooding Update: North Lancelot is now open
– Grassmere Road is closed due to a washout Update: Grassmere is now open
– Williamsport Road is closed due to a washout

 

Flooded roads:

– Miller Hill Road along Hwy 60 is flooded
 – Cann Street between John and Muskoka Road 2 is flooded
– There is a tree and hydro lines down on Williamsport Road after Fowlers Road
– There is flooding at the corner of Meadowpark Drive and Forestview Drive
– There is a lot of flooding on Cairns Road
– Hidden Valley Road has a lot of flooding
– The right hand lane on Aspdin Road, past Old Aspdin Road, is flooded
– There is a tree on the road on Old Faulknerberg Rd at Manitoba
– Grassmere Road is underwater, which is about two kilometers east of Deerhurst
– There is a tree blocking Maple Ridge Road outside of Dorset

Parking lot and business flooding:

– Table Soup Food Bank flooded and closed until Friday

– Back of Huntsville Place Mall parking lot is flooded

 

 

There are also a number of power outages in the Muskoka area:

– Bracebridge: 117 customers in the dark and restoration time is 3:45pm. Crews are working in the area. Update: Power has been restored.
– Crystal Beach area: 20 customers affected, 3:00pm restoration time
– Two separate outages Muskoka Falls: 186 customers affected on Brackenrig Road, 3:30pm restoration.  Another 20 homes are affected at Tobin Island, restoration time is 6:00pm. Update: Power has been restored.
 – Around 185 homes are in the dark in the Skeleton Lake area, restoration time is 4:30pm.
– There are four outages in Lake of Bays, affecting 435 customers in total. Restoration time ranges from 4:15pm to 5:15pm
 – In Huntsville, there is an outage spanning from Muskoka Road 3 into Big East Provincial Park. Almost 100 customers are affected and power should be back on by 4:45pm. There’s a second outage at Muskoka Road 3 North by Highway 11, affecting around 20 customers. Restoration time is 6:15pm.
There is an event cancellation for tonight as well:
– Dokan Karate is cancelled due to the flooding
Environment Canada is predicting around 15 to 25 mm of rain will fall today. It should start to clear up overnight, where the forecast is calling for mainly clouds and a 30 per cent chance of showers.
