Muskoka Lakes is facing a difficult decision with local infrastructure costs

Muskoka Lakes doesn’t have the funds to keep up with all of its infrastructure costs.

Township CAO Steve McDonald says there are a few buildings, roads and bridges that need to be updated.

He says over the past few years, the township hasn’t been putting the money aside for these upcoming costs.

McDonald says the biggest issues right now are bridge repairs and replacements in the municipality.

He says they are looking for any government grants to help with the Bala Falls Road Bridge replacement cost, but those aren’t always available.

Muskoka Lakes is now looking to its residents to get some input on what officials should do next.

An online survey is asking you if the municipality should close certain roads, bridges and community buildings or hike taxes higher.

The survey will be open until September 29th and you can find more details here.
