Gravenhurst getting ready for a fun-filled Canada Day

Gravenhurst is gearing up for a day of celebrations this weekend. The town is hosting Canada Day activities throughout the day in Gull Lake Rotary Park, with a barbecue, magic show, and live music.

You can also check out the grand opening of the Children’s Outdoor Play Scape at the Bethune Memorial House. There will be games and crafts for kids, the unveiling of the World War I themed activity and play area, and a presentation of wildlife. The activity area will focus on what medics and stretcher bearers did during the war, in a child-friendly way. It will feature a winding wooden trench, climbing areas, a balance beam, and tunnels.

The Gravenhurst Public Library is hosting a read for 15 challenge all day, Sawdust City Brewery is having a funkfest, and the day wraps up with fireworks at Walker’s Point Marina at dusk.

Also happening nearby is the Kahshe Lake Fleafest. The event will have homebuilt and vintage seafleas in the water and on-land, and celebrates the seaflea and hydroplane racing that has been part of Kahse Lake since the 1950’s. There will be a variety of non-competitive events and demonstrations throughout the day. It’s all happening at the Rockhaven Inn from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
