Bracebridge is inviting you to spend an afternoon playing checkers in the park.
The Memorial Park bandshell has become the home to a giant checkerboard complete with wooden pieces.
Kalleen Turchet with the town says she was selected by RBC in Bracebridge through a nation-wide Canada 150 campaign the bank is running.
Turchet says she was given $150 to carry out her project and she decided to go with the checkerboard after being inspired by a similar design in a bookstore.
With help from family and friends, Turchet created the communal checkerboard and wooden pieces for everyone in the community to use.
She says she hopes to see the giant checkerboard continue to be a tradition in Bracebridge every summer.
