OPP say drivers should watch for animals crossing the road

Police are reminding driver to be on the lookout for animals crossing roads and highways.  West Parry Sound OPP say collisions with animals have recently increased as deer and moose are being pushed from wooded areas by the increased presence of mosquitoes and black flies.  Drivers are encouraged to reduce their speed in areas where animals are known to cross the road–especially during low light conditions.  Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Ron Campbell says if you are travelling at the speed limit you have increased your reaction time to unexpected sudden incidents such as wild animals.  Campbell goes on to say by obeying the speed limits police hope the number of these types of collisions will decrease.
