Athletes from across the province will be in Huntsville in 2019 for the Ontario 55+ Winter Games. These games are the only sporting event in Ontario for those aged 55 and over. Huntsville hosted the games once already, in 2013.
Provincial government officials say over 1,000 athletes will be in town, which is expected to bring $2 million of tourism dollars into the area.
Mayor Scott Aitchison says the town has rich history of hosting successful events, and he looks forward to working with the province to make it a great event.
The province is investing $235,000 into the town to make the games happen.
