MAHC: New CT scanner provides better care at Huntsville Hospital

There are many benefits to the new CT Scanner at Huntsville Hospital. The Huntsville Hospital Foundation made a $2-million funding commitment for the new scanner and renovations which were completed at the end of May. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) says the new scanner has lower x-ray dose, reduces exam time, provides greater detail, accuracy and detail in the images and more.

Since May, the new scanner has been used for almost 500 scans. CEO Natalie Bubela says a CT Scanner is a critical piece of equipment to a community hospital. MAHC also says The Simcoe/Muskoka Acute Stroke Protocol relies heavily on the CT service at the Huntsville Hospital as it is the only designated District Stroke Centre between Barrie and North Bay.
