Businesses respond well to Town of Bracebridge's litter concerns

Area businesses have responded to the Town of Bracebridge’s litter concerns. A letter was sent to them saying the spirit of Earth Day should last all year to try to reduce street litter. Councilor Mark Quemby says owners responded well and attended discussions January 14th. Suggestions coming out of that include having more downtown garbage carts, cleanups being done in the afternoon, not the morning and potential savings for businesses if they could compost food waste. The Town was told 65 percent of garbage is food waste. Also under review is the possibility for a trash compactor on Manitoba Street.
