Honey Harbour may not be closing after all

Honey Harbour Public School may stay open after all, at least for five more years.  Trillium Lakelands District school Board staff has changed its recommendation from closing the school in June to having it stay open for five more years.

The decision to change the recommendation is based on feedback from the community and enhanced funding from the Ministry of Education. That money could be used to hire more teachers for the school and provide another classroom, instead of having all eight grades sharing two classrooms.

A final decision will be made by the Board on Tuesday.
