A decision on the Bala Falls portage issue might not happen for a couple of months. Today the Township of Muskoka Lakes issued a statement saying Mayor Murphy and Council are pleased that the Township’s request to overturn a government ban and recognize the public’s right to portage a historic canoe route at the Bala Falls was heard by the Ontario Court of Appeal yesterday. Murphy says “the Township appreciated having the opportunity on appeal for the court to fully hear the Township of Muskoka Lakes’ case.” The Court has reserved their decision, which is expected in the next few months.
