Collin Cameron bringing home the gold

A former Bracebridge man is topping the podium in a world cup event. Collin Cameron is in South Korea competing in Para-Nordic Skiing, and came in first place over the weekend in the men’s short sprint. This is his first career win, in only his second season competing in the sport.

The World Cup is at the same site as next year’s Olympics, and Cameron says it’s like a test run for the winter games.

Para-Nordic is cross country skiing and biathlon for those with a physical impairment. Cameron was born with arthrogryposis, which causes muscle shortening.

Cameron lived in both Port Sydney and Bracebridge before moving to Sudbury after college. He played sledge hockey there, and found Para-Nordic skiing in 2015.

Cameron has two more races in South Korea, before the event wraps up on Wednesday.
