Huntsville’s affordable housing plan takes the next step

Huntsville will soon have a better idea of what will happen with affordable housing construction. The town has put out a request for proposal for developers to bid on, after donating land at Sabrina Park Drive.

Mayor Scott Aitchison says the housing ideas need to be creative; going beyond simply building affordable homes to actually creating a community. Developers will have to outline how many units they’ll build, the type of housing, and how residents will be able to buy a home.

The RFP is out until the end of the month, at which point more details will be released. Any developers interested in sending in a bid can do so on the town’s website.
