Eat Right Ontario helping Muskokans make healthy choices as Nutrition Month kicks off

A government funded service is helping Muskoka make healthy eating choices, all for free. It’s called Eat Right Ontario, and anyone can call to ask their nutrition-related questions.

Registered Dietitian Tracy Morris says they’re raising awareness about the service, because Nutrition Month kicks off in Canada tomorrow. She says the goal is to help the community take the fight out of food.

Morris says those issues can range from dieting tips, to eating for things like high cholesterol and diabetes. She says it’s the time of year when Muskokans are getting their beach bodies ready, and Eat Right Ontario help do that in a healthy way. Morris says there’s a ton of misleading information on the internet about crazy diets that don’t work, but they can help clear up those rumours.

Morris says another common issue Eat Right Ontario can help with, is eating healthy on a budget. Groceries can get expensive in Muskoka, and Morris says the free service has tips to eating properly when the cost of food spikes.

Morris says although canned food can be high in salt, all you have to do is rinse the food off with water and it will take away a lot of the sodium. She says you can call, email, or browse the website to get information from a registered dietitian. Click here for all of the contact information.
