French school board looks to Parry Sound for possible new education location

Muskoka may not be seeing a french-taught school anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean students can’t attend one close by.
Officials with Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario, a french school board in Northern Ontario, are eyeing down Parry Sound as the next possible location for a school.
Communications Officer Guylaine Scherer says following consultations held in both Muskoka and Parry Sound, the more immediate interest seemed to be in the more northern community.
Scherer says the board will be taking a deeper look at the Parry Sound area and find out just how much interest is there beyond the original meetings held.
She says if a school does open in Parry Sound, interested families in Muskoka will be able to send their children there.
If more interest starts to present itself in Muskoka, the board will begin to review its options again in opening another school in the district.
