The OPP is not happy with our driving habits. With the recent bout of bad weather, the OPP says equally bad driving is the cause of numerous collisions these past several weeks. Since the weekend, 11 OPP cruisers were hit, two officers suffered minor injuries and one was sent to hospital. Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says the weather has made for some very hazardous driving conditions lately, but it’s the drivers who don’t adjust their driving that are usually the ones involved in the collisions.
Meantime, Commissioner Chris Lewis says it’s the way people are driving in these conditions that risks the safety of the public and even officers. The OPP is asking you to be in control, pay attention and slow down.
