Bracebridge council to review concept for possible arena and library complex

A new arena and library complex in Bracebridge could come with a $47 million price tag.
This comes from a recent report submitted by MJMA Architects, which had been commissioned by the town.
Last July, council asked town staff to explore two options for the library.
The town could either renovate the current building downtown or attach a new library to the proposed arena complex.
This concept is a follow-up to that request and council has still not made a decision on either of these options.
If council decides to keep the library downtown, the cost of the arena complex would sit just over $38 million.
The concept features a 16,000 square foot NHL-style ice pad with 1,000 seats, an indoor field and recreation area, the option for another ice pad and an area for a new library.
Information in the report points to 2018 as a possible start date for construction, however this has not been confirmed by town officials.
The report will be presented to Bracebridge General Committee on Monday at 9:00am.
