Runners gathering in Huntsville for Band on the Run

The Band on the Run is finally here and River Mill Park in Huntsville is going to be filled with runners, vendors, volunteers and spectators. Almost 900 runners have registered to run the half, half relay, 10k, 5k or kids race. It all starts 8am. A music festival will follow from 2pm until 6pm. 2014 Juno Award Winner for Rock Album of the year Matt Mays will be performing with guest Whitehorse and Dany Michel. There will be road closures in the morning.

Don’t forget to cheer for the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department as they embark on a 10K run during today’s race. Firefighters have been raising funds for The Huntsville Hospital Foundation. For every $1,000 they raise an extra kilometre is added to their distance. Their goal is to run 10k in full uniform. Our very own Mel Candelaria will be running right along with them.

• 8:30am – 9am: Partial Road Closure: Haynes Road from Center St N to Hwy 60, East Bound (South side)
• 8:30am -12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Earls Road from Hwy 60 to Golf Course Road
• 8:30am – 12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Golf Course Road from Earls Rd to Muskoka Road 3 N
• 8:30am – 12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Muskoka Road 3 N from Golf Course Road to Arrowhead Park Road
• 8:30am – 12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Arrowhead Park Road from Muskoka Road 3 N to Arrowhead Prov Park
• 8:30am – 12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Shay Road from Haynes Road to West Road
• 8:30am – 12:30pm: Partial Road Closure: Elm St and John St from West Road to Main St E
